Q+A with Charlotte Burkhart of L.S.D Jewellery

Thomas’s loves supporting local, so we were excited to discover Marlburian Charlottle Burkhart’s stunning jewellery. Little Sister Designs (L.S.D.) already has a strong international following, and has even been worn on the red carpet! As an introduction to the range and to celebrate Thomas’s now selling  L.S.D. in store and online, we’ve asked Charlotte a few questions about L.S.D.

Tells us a bit about the inspiration behind LSD?

L.S.D. is inspired by so many things, my love of Magic and Fantasy, Strange legends or stories, but mostly from my love of pop culture and literature. A lot of my recent jewellery is inspired by Game of Thrones (A song of ice and fire by George R R Martin), and any interesting movies/shows that I happen to come upon. A lot of my work contains bones or claws, I love how they can stay incredibly beautiful after the death and decay has had their way with them.

Is the design process the same for each range? How does each LSD piece come to be?

I usually just play around with the cast components and my boxes of gorgeous stones until something comes to me then I will create that piece. I mostly work this way but I do do a few more complex designs via sketching.

What’s your favourite thing about doing ‘what you do’?

My favourite thing is the fact that I absolutely love what I do, and I am so lucky to be able to say that. But also having the flexibility to work when I want is a bonus too; it works great with having a long term illness as I can rest sometimes when I am sick and work when I am well!

Who would you love to dress in LSD?

I have a huge girl crush on Jennifer Lawrence so I would love to get her in to my jewels, she’s so quirky, unique and dynamic!

What are your wardrobe essentials for this summer?

Dresses! I only ever wear dresses, but I would go for nice floaty midi dresses for that summer heat. And of course some jewellery to jazz it up!

What is your go-to LSD piece for a night out?

I always have a fist full of rings when I go out, Which are constantly changing as I like to switch the stones and settings. I constantly want a bigger better necklace but whenever I make something I love, I tend to wear it once and then part with it.

What is on your playlist at the moment?

I have a really random taste in music as you will see, but this is the playlist I play when I am working

The Eyrie Pendant is a super versatile piece, another favourite would be the Poseidon’s Garden Ring.
